Quire ("the Software") is free of charge, but it is not free software: it is
licensed, not sold, and this agreement sets out what you may and may not do
with it. By installing or using the Software you accept these terms.

1. What you may do

   You may install and use the Software on any number of computers that you
   own or control, for personal or professional purposes, at no cost.

   You may make copies of the installer for backup purposes.

2. What you may not do

   You may not sell, rent, lease, sublicense or otherwise charge for the
   Software, or bundle it with a product or service that is sold, without
   written permission from the author.

   You may not modify, adapt, translate, decompile, disassemble or reverse
   engineer the Software, or create derivative works from it, except to the
   extent that applicable law expressly permits it.

   You may not remove or alter the copyright notice, the author's name or the
   "About Quire" information.

   You may not redistribute modified versions, or present the Software as
   your own work.

3. Redistribution of the unmodified installer

   You may share the official, unmodified installer, or a link to the
   official download page, provided that you do not charge for it and do not
   claim any rights over it. Linking to the official download page is
   preferred, so that people always receive the latest version.

4. Updates

   The Software may check for and download updates from the author's release
   channel. Updates are covered by this agreement unless they come with a
   different license.

5. Your files and your data

   The Software does not modify the books you open. Reading positions,
   highlights and library information are stored locally on your computer.
   The Software sends no usage data to the author. Optional online features
   (looking up book details by ISBN or title, checking for updates) contact
   third-party services only as described in the About dialog.

6. Third-party components

   The Software includes open-source components that remain under their own
   licenses, notably pdf.js (Apache License 2.0), foliate-js (MIT License)
   and Tauri (MIT / Apache License 2.0). Their notices are included with the
   Software and are not affected by this agreement.

7. No warranty

   THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR
   IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY,
   FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL
   THE AUTHOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES OR OTHER LIABILITY ARISING
   FROM THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

8. Termination

   This license ends automatically if you break any of its terms. On
   termination you must stop using the Software and delete your copies.
